Band Member Bios
The Minetta Creek Blugrass Band is the longest running bluegrass band in New York City!

They have been entertaining audiences and playing dances, clubs, concets, and parties for well over a decade.


Minetta Creek is headed by Gene Tambor who has been playing country,bluegrass, folk, and rock music since the 60s.
In addtion to maintaing his reputation as a multi instrumentalist, Gene has developed his own personal style of singing His instruments include banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, harmonica, and ukelele.


Beth Tambor sings and plays lead guitar with the band, and has been singing and writing songs since age ten. She began performing at the Unitarian Church in Hollis New York, and has traveled extensively in Europe and the United States finding herself and her own unigue style.
She played with Gene in the 70's and again with Minetta Creek beginning in 1996. Beth also performs folk, rock, bluegrass, country and gospel music.


Giovanna Sgarlata -- Singer/Songwriter, Guitar/Bass
Giovanna released her first CD in 1997 with her former band The POETICS. Seen often at Downtime, CB Gallery, Le Bar Bat, The Alterknit, The Elbow Room, Coyote Kate's and Webster Hall in New York City.

Prior to this band she has enjoyed a wonderful career in Country, Folk and Rock from Cape Cod to NYC. Playing on such stages as Folk City, CBGB's and The Speak Easy. Giovanna also spearheaded The First Light radio show for WOMR in Provincetown, (when she wasn't performing!).
Besides having written music for several plays including CLOUD NINE for C.W. Post, she is the sound director for Estrogenius 2002 at the Manhattan Theatre Source (and did so for the year 2001).
Having mostly performed original tunes through the years she is grateful to return to her favorite music, playing and singing with the refreshing and earthy band, MINETTA CREEK.
